Mission

I have been volunteering with grassroots charities and working for NGOs or many years now and passionately believe in contributing to global health and wellbeing. I can't change the world but I can help.

What We're About

During my travels I have been struck by the extreme inequalities in healthcare and socioeconomically. I have witnessed extreme poverty and met so many people who are barely surviving day to day. From what i have read Nicaragua is no exception. I think I can help even just being an extra pair of caring hands. I am a registered nurse in the UK and a qualified midwife. My specialisms are sexual health and HIV and women's health but I also have an interest in pubic health and health education. During my time with the YMCA in England I managed a sexual exploitation project and supported accommodation for vulnerable young people in care 16+. The sexual and reproductive health issues facing Nigaraguan young people is unfortunately a fami!iar story to me. During my 7 months of travelling accross Latin America I have volunteered with: an HIV hospice in Trinidad; 2 farms in Mexico (one of these I delivered a women's health workshop and drop-in); a farm in Belize; 2 months with the YMCA in Bogota working with vulnerable children and women who are commercially sexually exploited (I also assisted with a research project focusing on gender inequalities). I have volunteered with traumatised refugee children in the French Calais 'jungle' camp and with homelessness in the UK. I am happy to go where most needed however whether that be related to the above, vaccination programmes or hospice care. Ideally accommodation and at least one meal would be provided please. Thank you
